DPS®—Dynamic Practice Simulation

DPS® is a realistic, patient-centered simulation that can predict prescribing behavior 75% to 85% of the time. By creating “real” patient profiles from as many as 30 different variables, DPS® is able to account for a diverse patient population from which to simulate treatment choices. The advantage of DPS® over attribute-based choice methods is that DPS® analyzes prescriptions, not attributes, to characterize markets, not brands. The goal of DPS® is to predict prescribing behavior by clearly and accurately creating a wide range of prescribing possibilities while limiting political and social bias, poor estimating, and other analytical challenges associated with conventional choice methods.

DPS® allows RG+A to accomplish several research tasks:

  • Identify product attributes, physician beliefs, and/or patient characteristics that drive markets
  • Create prescription-based physician and patient segments that reflect brand use
  • Facilitate superior sales targeting by linking DPS® segments regardless of whether prescription-level data exist or not
